As I also posted previously, I had the idea to work on and release a poetry book due to the fact that I have accumulated so much of my written poetry in journals throughout the years.  Some of these ended up appearing in one form or another on POET.  I'm also certain some of these poems will also be used for future songs, but many of them will not.  I still wanted to share them so I got the idea in my head to put out a poetry book.  Well, since I last posted about it, the book has gone underway.  After researching some independent publishing options, many have seemed to have good experiences with .  I then began pouring through the poetry and I will say alot of it was not easy to read.  Much of the poetry was written during a very dark period in my life.  Some of the poems written as early as high school and others just a few years ago.  I'm also including the original poetry for the songs, "Ghost" and "Porcelain Doll."  "Ghost" is actually a configuration of several poems and "Porcelain Doll" is pretty similar to the lyrics on the album, but there were changes made to the original poem to fit the music Jason was coming up with.

The poetry book is going to be titled "Thick Jagged Scars" and the literary content of the book is pretty much complete in the templates.  I also came up with a photos theme for the book and will be working on photos for the book with photographer, Tim Harshman.  That will be a fun shoot:D  I'll be making fake scar tissue:D  I've already done my own makeup for photo/music video/film shoots, so now I can add special effects to my resume:P  And finally, any poetry/photo book wouldn't be complete without a new song to go with it.  The song is going to be derived from one of the poems either from the poetry book itself or a poem not used in the poetry book.  For this I will be collaborating with Melody Joy.  Melody's specialty in music is electronic.  I picture a sort of brooding, edgy, teetering on gothic electronic song for the "Thick Jagged Scars" Project.  Melody also has her own projects out as well.  Check her out at

I'm aiming to have the "Thick Jagged Scars" project released this summer.

There are alot of things on the horizon that we are working on including my second full length album, "Elements," the first Living Room Sessions EP, and a couple other projects.  We are always keeping busy to keep you all entertained:)

New blog post: "New Year,New Projects...Possible a Book of My Poetry?"

New Year, New Projects...Possibly a Book of my Poetry?

Hello all,

Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday and New Year. As some of you know, the New Year brought the release of a new single, the second recorded in one of my Living Room Sessions. "Three Pale Queens (Acoustic Live Version)" is a duet with my friend and Rockabilly Hall of Fame inductee, Chuck Owston.  The single is available for digital download at CDBaby:

This year will also bring some new projects and releases.  Yes, we are working on my second full length album titled "Elements" and hopefully all will go well enough for us to have it complete by the end of the year.  But there are some more releases coming out such as the re-release of the "Porcelain Doll EP" which was our very first release back in 2007.  It was out of print for a while, but we will re-release it with new cover art and release it to digital retailers such as iTunes and Amazon.  We will also have the music videos for "Run Away and Hide", "Ashes to Dust", and "Scarborough Fair" available for digital sale online.  We will have a few DVD copies on hand as well.  Some of you who have also been keeping up with my 'Living Room Sessions' on my YouTube Channel know that the Christmas/Holiday single, "Greensleeves" and the newest single, "Three Pale Queens (Acoustic Live Version)" were recorded during the Living Room Sessions.  Due to the positive response to the 'Living Room Sessions' and the singles that have been released have recieving a great response (thanks guys!), I will also be releasing the first Living Room Sessions EP relatively soon.  The first EP will be titled Heart Song: the Living Room Sessions EP.  The tracks on the EP will be "Heart Song" (a guitar and voice only version of a song that will be on my second album with Jason English on guitar), an acoustic live version of "Greensleeves," a studio version of "Three Pale Queens" with Chuck Owston, and "Carrickfergus" which will be a duet with Heidi Engel.  There may be a fifth track if time permits as I am working on a voice and piano version of "Lost Little Girl" (currently an acapella song which is also a single).  But I do hope for these Living Room Session EPs to be an ongoing project, so if not on this one, then it will be on the next:)  I will be announcing a release date of the first EP very soon.  I'm also working on getting together a Living Room Sessions Concert DVD (for those who have been asking about a concert DVD).  We are in the pre-production early stages of planning this.  It is going to take alot of planning and since we don't have a team of minions doing everything for us (yes, Jason and I plan and prepare almost EVERYTHING by ourselves), it will take a little time.  We will keep you updated on the progress though as this will be a very exciting project to embark on:)  The nice and great thing about doing these Living Room Sessions is that it does give me the opportunity to do versions and adaptations of traditional folk songs I love as well as 'B Side' songs I've written that may not otherwise fit or make it onto my full length releases.  It also gives us an opportunity to release a song from a full length album in a sort of 'unplugged' form.

As far as acting and film goes, Eerie Frequency Entertainment and Sound Video Productions on in some distribution negotiations for "The Girl" and zDiet3 Productions is in the final post-production phase of "Resolution: A Portrait of Amelia Earhart."  I'll also be briefly reprising my role, Jessica Peters, in "Slashers Gone Wild" in the sequel titled "Zombie Slashers" with World Parody Productions.  There are a couple other projects I'm involved with that will be announced in the coming months.  I do want to do theater this year as I REALLY miss it after not doing it for a couple years.  I will be doing some theater again at some point VERY soon as I am going crazy from withdrawal:)

I was also going through boxes as I was re-organizing my office (a seemingly neverevening quest) and was amazed at all the journals I found with poetry I had written over the years.  Some of the poems resulted in my debut full length album, Poet, but many have never seen the light of day.  There are even the original poems for "Ghost" and "Porcelain Doll" (which were altered slightly for the sake of the music accompaniment).  While I'm certain that some of these poems will be used for future songs, many of them will not and I do really want to share them.  I got the crazy notion in my head last night to why not maybe put out a poetry book?  Maybe even include a couple of my short stories that I had also written.  I know that there are areas where one can publish their literary works independently.  That is how I like to do things...independently.  That's the best way make sure things get done YOUR way and not THEIR way.  I've had many a people ask me "so do you plan to get signed to a major label?"  While the idea on the surface is enticing as majors get more of a push and promotion, they sacrifice a great deal of their artistic and creative freedom and often for very little pay...much less than most people think (the Justin Biebers are a big exception to the rule).  Hundreds of artists who get signed are lucky if their work even sees the light of day.  They are shelved and cannot work independently as they are still bound to the contract with the record label.  The few who are fortunate enough to be on a major label and get heard by the masses again, often sacrifice their artistic and creative freedom.  They are under the rule of the record label and told what songs to sing, what producers to work with, etc.  Even those who say they write their own material don't really WRITE their own material most of the time.  They are put with the 'hottest' songwriters du jour and either are encouraged or 'told' what to write.  One thing I enjoy is putting visuals to music and making my music videos have been the most fun.  Most of the time with major labels, the record label chooses the "best" director, choreographer, sets, costume designer, etc and artist just shows up and does what he/she/they are told.  One thing I love is being hands on with the creative process of my work and Jason and I have been able to accomplish more with our brick and morter business than many of the hundreds or artists who do sign deals with major labels.

But I digress :D  I am researching independent literary publishing as I would love to publish a literay book of my poetry and some of my short stories:)

I love sharing these things with you guys and I hope to continue to do so for many years to come.
