2008

Wow, it's hard to believe that 2008 is almost over! It is October and my favorite season (fall/autumn) is here. Time for pumpkins, warm cider, caramel apple, candy corn, all my fall favorites! Of course there is Halloween and all the fun Halloween stores are opening up:) I'm like a kid in a candy store when I walk into those things! I do plan to take time away and go to a haunted house or two with some friends:D But even that aside, it is absolutly wonderful to walk outside and see the leaves changing colors and feel the air becoming cooler. It's almost like the earth sheds it's skin to grow a new coat. I guess you can say I can relate to that in a way. 2008 has really been a year of new beginnings. 2007 was about shedding old skins to make room for new things coming up. This year I made the concious decision to truly let go of all things that were negative in my life. Sure I said that or attempted it before, but this year seemed like the year to really mean it and actually do it. The material on my debut album "Poet" is me letting go of alot of passed aggressions. As I write for my second album, the more I find myself getting back to the basics and the core of what makes me, me. I realize as I look back that I went through a period of time (a couple years) where I was losing who I was. This industry can do that to you if you aren't careful. For a while I went around trying to be something that I wasn't. I think that writing and releasing my album was the beginning of me getting myself back and I have felt a huge relief. Some people may not like the directions I choose to go in and that is their right to not like it. But in the end, I have to do what is right for me.

I've also been finding my love for painting and drawing again. I have Allan of 'Bridging Heaven and Earth' to thank for that. It was he who suggested that I turn in a piece of artwork for their international art gallery. That actually inspired me to post more of my artwork online. I do have a deviant art page now. The link to that is:

http://www.tiffanyapan.deviantart.com

I have the work that I submitted to the Bridging Heaven and Earth International Art Gallery on there now and I will be submitting more of my work soon. While I will have some original works for sale, I will also have replica prints availableand I plan to put some of my favorites onto shirts, buttons, mugs, cards, and the like (to also have something other than band/music merchandise).

Well, I look back on 2008 and feel that the struggling has so far been worth it. While I'm still on the journey to coming full circle, I very much feel that I'm on the right path now. I almost hope I never come full circle because I always want to keep growing and learning.

We are doing a show at Excuses tonight with our friends Bonfire Night. Jason and I will be joining them onstage for the collaboration we did with them, "Three Pale Queens." We will also be joining them for the song "Blood and Thunder" and a couple others. We are also preparing for the remainder of our fall shows and our Halloween themed concert at The Art Center for their Gallery of Horrors Costume Gala. There is alot of preparing for that since it is a slightly different show setup. More info on that is at http://www.butlerartcenter.net

2008 has been an incredibe journey and I look forward to what 2009 may bring:)
